Edward Jenner School is small and unique with currently 44 students. Come and join our excellent, friendly, and hard-working crew of staff and young people.

As DSL you will be the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns, providing expert guidance to staff and ensuring students are safe and supported.

Develop, implement, and review safeguarding policies, related policies, procedures and training across the school.

Build strong, collaborative relationships with external agencies including parents/carers, Children’s Services, Police, and Health Services.

Champion a culture of vigilance, resilience, and care that permeates every area of our school.

Our ideal candidate has:

· Experience in safeguarding within an educational setting, with knowledge of statutory guidance including Keeping Children Safe in Education. OR similar role demonstrating attention for details, ability to follow rigorous legal procedures and job history indicating an ability to learn at a high level and implement procedures.

· A deep understanding of the unique safeguarding challenges and vulnerabilities faced by students in our school environment including but not limited to: students with SEMH, C&I, C&L needs; and young carers. Or a deep desire and willingness to learn from the team and outside agencies

· Confidence in managing sensitive and complex situations with discretion, resilience, and professionalism.

· The ability to influence others and embed a culture of safeguarding across the school.

· Experience in multi-agency work and confident in case management and record-keeping.
