The Unicorn School is seeking to appoint a part-time Teacher of LAMDA Awards to deliver high-quality teaching and support students in developing their skills in communication, performance, and public speaking.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons, preparing students for examinations, and inspiring confidence and creativity.

This is an exciting opportunity to establish and develop LAMDA provision at the school, working with students across a range of age groups with specific learning differences including dyslexia, ADHD, autism, working memory and processing difficulties.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Teaching and Learning

Plan and deliver lessons across a range of LAMDA disciplines (e.g., Acting, Speaking Verse and Prose, Public Speaking, Devising Drama)

Prepare students for graded LAMDA examinations

Use the LAMDA syllabi creatively to bring success and growth for our students in their learning, performance and self-esteem

Understand the diverse learning styles of our students to create nuanced and bespoke lessons

Provide constructive feedback to students to support progress and achievement

Maintain accurate records of progress and attainment

Student Welfare and Behaviour Management:

Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment where students feel confident to express themselves

Set high expectations for behaviour and commitment to learning

Manage behaviour positively, following school policies and procedures

Support students’ personal growth, resilience, and self-esteem through the performing arts

Whole-School Responsibilities:

Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the performing arts provision including attending school performances and communicating with parents.

Skills and Competencies:

Strong subject knowledge and expertise in teaching LAMDA awards

Ability to plan flexibly and deliver engaging and creative lessons

Experience preparing students with learning differences for LAMDA examinations

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to inspire confidence, motivation, and enthusiasm in students

Strong organisational skills with attention to detail

Commitment to continuous professional development

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

A thorough understanding of safeguarding principles

Collaborate with the designated safeguarding lead (DSL) to ensure the best interests of students are promoted, including sharing concerns where necessary
