Oxford Sixth Form College are looking for a a Finance Manager to start on a full-time, permanent contract. This role is Monday - Friday and is based in Oxford City Centre.

Reports to: Principal & Regional Finance Director Europe (Nord Anglia)
Liaises with: Vice Principal, Senior Leadership Team, Facilities, Admissions, Marketing, Director of Student Service, Senior Tutors, Directors of Studies, Global Recruitment Unit, UK Finance Managers. This role works closely with the Europe Regional Team and the Central Finance Team.
Line Manages: Finance Officer
Job Purpose:
- To ensure effective production, management and reporting of all financial matters of the college.
- To provide financial support to the Principal and Senior Leadership Team as required.
- To prepare budgets and forecasts for the school.
- To ensure processing the transactional information for the school is complete and accurate.
Main Duties
- To ensure proper accounting and financial records and systems are maintained.
- To ensure financial accounts are produced monthly and within agreed timeframes.
- To ensure all statutory accounting and VAT returns are produced and submitted in accordance with legislation.
- To ensure effective internal controls and implement new procedures, as necessary.
- To ensure proper cash management processes are in operation
- To liaise with external auditors and tax advisors regarding statutory accounts and other statutory returns.
- To produce the majority of the detailed audit samples and the deal with any and all audit queries.
- To produce, review and report the annual budgets and other associated reports for the school within the agreed deadlines. This includes liaising closely with the Principal, budget holders and the Admissions team.
- To produce, review and report regular re-forecasts for the school within the agreed deadlines.
- Prepare Governors papers that aid, assist and lead to efficient and effective decision making.
- To monitor and discuss actual spend against budgeted spend by each budget holder.
- To ensure complete monthly management accounts and other associated monthly management reports are submitted to Nord Anglia within the agreed deadlines.
- This includes preparing the accounts as well as reviewing and reporting the accounts to the Principal, Finance Director Schools and Colleges (Oxford) and Nord Anglia.
- Other monthly management accounts include, but are not limited to, the cashflow forecast, KPI’s and CAPEX, payroll reconciliations, lease management and intercompany transactions
- To ensure the timely and accurate production of sales invoices and to send these invoices to feepayers and agents
- To actively manage the credit control function; implementing, monitoring and reviewing debit collection procedures. To ensure that all debts are collected by the due date. This includes following up and suspending students if required as well as liaising with an external legal team if required for irrecoverable debts. This also includes liaising with students, feepayers and agent enquiries
- To oversee, support and manage the workload of the Finance Officer and manage their performance and professional development
- To produce daily bank reconciliations
- To ensure the College’s cashflow is maintained
- To assess and approve the monthly payroll documents and to approve the bank payments
- To assess and approve the fortnightly purchase ledger payments and to approve the bank payments
- To oversee the monthly credit card reconciliation completed by the Finance Officer • To process the return of deposits at the end of the academic year
- To preparing and submit the bi-annual agent commission spreadsheet
- To work closely with the Admissions team in relation to new students. To create associated internal reports and submit on a weekly basis
- To prepare and submit weekly report to Nord Anglia, for example the weekly cash collection report and submission of KPI’s
- To deal with any ad hoc internal reports or requests
Additional Duties
- Provide and deliver training to staff where appropriate
- Attend and participate in meetings as required
- To contribute by using appropriate quantitative and qualitative data to the College Development Plan
- To attend relevant professional development courses and external meetings as a representative of the College as agreed
- To contribute to successful external inspections (i.e. ISI, UKVI) • Actively promote and market the College and present a positive image of the College and its activities both within and outside the College environment
- To carry out any duties at all times in accordance with the College’s policies including Health and Safety, Child Protection and Safeguarding Policies
- Provide reports for Governors meetings as and when required;
- Assist in the management of and participate in student recruitment activities, such as agent familiarisation trips, prospective student/parent visits;
- Attend relevant professional development courses and external meetings as a representative of the College;
- To be willing to work flexibly including weekends and evenings for issues of safeguarding;
- Be part of the evening and weekend on-call duty manager rota;
- Actively promote and market the College and present a positive image of the college and its activities both within and outside the college environment.
- To undertake any other responsibilities commensurate with the grade of the post, which the Principal or their management representative may from time to time require
