This is an exciting opportunity for a well-qualified, enthusiastic and inspirational teacher to join the Haberdashers' Castle House School team.

Haberdashers' Castle House School is a small independent prep school located in Newport, Shropshire. Over recent years we have seen an upsurge in demand for places at the school. From September we are about to enter another phase of expansion and need to increase our teaching staff to match. We are looking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and inspirational teacher to work in either Key Stage one or Key Stage two. This person will deliver an exciting curriculum and be involved in the wider activities offered by the school. Children are taught by their Class Teacher for the majority of their lessons yet benefit from being taught by specialists in subjects such as music, PE, and MFL.

Haberdashers’ Castle House School is a non-selective Prep School. Whilst the school does have a focus on academic entry to the 11+ grammar schools in the area, we are highly inclusive and welcome children of all abilities, talents and needs.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will possess a good honours degree from a respected university. They will have an excellent teaching record, an inclusive approach and commitment to fostering a love of learning for all children.

Other valuable qualities include enthusiasm, understanding, organisational ability, a capacity to work hard and the ability to stay calm and good humoured under pressure. The appointee will need to demonstrate a commitment to technology and its use across the curriculum. The successful candidate will also have the ability to command respect amongst all segments of the wider community and bring with them real energy, excitement and passion to the classroom.

The ability to offer Modern Foreign Languages would be desirable for this role.

Terms of Appointment

· The post is available from September 2025 on a full-time, permanent basis.

· A competitive salary reflecting the level of experience to date.

· Automatic enrolment into the Aviva Pension Scheme

· Fee remission

· A free staff lunch is provided during term time.

Please send by email a completed application form, together with a covering letter to Mr Ian Sterling, Headteacher at [email protected]

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
