POST: Pastoral Learning Support
RESPONSIBLE TO: Senco/SLT
STATUS: Term Time/Part time/Fixed Term until July 4th 2025.
HOURS OF WORK: 3 days per week (between 8.30am – 4pm)

Pastoral Learning Support

Exceptional Interpersonal and Communication Skills are absolutely essential. In our view, all members of Adcote’s Teaching and support staff must be able to communicate confidently and effectively with pupils and their parents.
We are looking for individuals with energy, enthusiasm, compassion, a thirst for learning and a desire to support one of our students to understand the world that they live in.
The Role
● To support an individual student to help active learning across the curriculum.
● To support with the differentiation of lesson resources
● To observe, record and feedback information on the students’ performance
● Work with the student on individual targets set by the SENCO and/or teaching staff.
● To support other teachers and other colleagues to help create an effective and purposeful learning environment
● Act on own initiative to provide interesting and varied multisensory learning opportunities to meet individual needs
● To assist student with note taking strategies and revision support
● To assist, where necessary, with the class teacher.
● To assist in creating materials for curriculum delivery and display boards
● Attend staff meetings and briefings as necessary
● To undertake any other professional duties as directed by the school
● Act at all times as an outstanding ambassador for the school
Experience (Essential)
● 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English
● Qualification in supporting teaching and learning at Level 2 or above or similar
● Experience in working with KS3 and KS4 students.
● Supporting pupils with cognition and learning needs
● Experience in supporting learners with low literacy ability
● Good communication skills and the ability to relate well to pupils, parents and staff
Experience (Desired)
● Experience in working with students on the Autism spectrum
● Experience in pastoral and emotional support
● Working with pupils to develop study skills
● Specialist skills, training or experience
● Experience of supporting at GCSE level
● At least 2 years’ experience of working in an educational setting
