We seek to appoint a Houseparent for our boarding house.
Ipswich High School is a leading independent school in Suffolk, proudly educating hundreds of pupils between the ages of 3 - 18. Based on a beautiful 84 acre campus, five miles outside of Ipswich, the school has long enjoyed a high profile across the region for its academic success and superb pastoral care.
We seek to appoint a Houseparent for our boarding house. The Houseparent will be a key residential position in the boarding house, consequently, the successful candidate will assist the Housemistress in providing excellent pastoral care for our boarders who are aged 11-18. He/she will be a responsible and caring person, who will enjoy working and living in our school community.
The successful candidate will have:
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Proven ability to form professional relationships with children
- A sympathetic and understanding approach with a good sense of humour
- Supervisory skills would be an advantage as she/he will be supervising the domestic staff and leading some duty boarding staff
- Having a keen interest in sport and coaching would be advantageous
The Houseparent’s main responsibilities are to support the Housemistress by ensuring the welfare and wellbeing of all boarders, as well to ensure the smooth running of the domestic and laundry systems for the House. The Houseparent requires understanding and empathy, and the ability to balance a friendly disposition with the need to promote the highest standards of behaviour and discipline.
This rewarding role provides school accommodation all year round for the successful candidate and meals during term time.
